Known for her successful roles on Honey and the Fantastic Four, Jessica Alba shifted her career from actress to full-blown female entrepreneur and shares her biggest secrets to running a successful beauty brand in an interview with Allure.

As co-founder of The Honest Company and her beauty line Honest Beauty, she knows exactly how to turn a new business into a billion dollar company. Yes, 1.7 billion to be precise! In the interview with Allure, Alba gave her honest career advice and explained what it takes to create a well-known beauty brand and how to be confident while doing it.

Here are some of the inspiring points that I believe she made in the interview:

Finding the right business partners

Alba, explains that this was probably one of her biggest challenges. It takes more than one person to build a successful business.

Differentiating yourself from other brands is essential

You have to know what you’re doing and understand your own brand before you communicate this to the world, Alba says on Allure. Also, what you’re bringing to the world should be something special – Something you fully believe in.

Presenting your ideas

Be specific about what you want to get out of a negotiation or business meeting. Don’t be afraid to present your thoughts and ideas and never take ‘no’ for an answer.

From an article released on Business Insider, it has been quite evident that when starting her business, Alba had dealt with loads of rejection from investors. There were many people who didn’t believe in her idea or who were not convinced enough about her business concept. Luckily, she did not give up on what she truly believed in. Today The Honest Company is booming tremendously both in the eco-friendly household and beauty industry.
